What Happens to a Standard High Bay at 85°C

In a standard high bay, the LED and driver share one sealed housing. At 85°C ambient, internal temperatures exceed 100°C. Capacitors degrade. The driver fails. Replacing a single fixture on a high ceiling costs more than the fixture itself.

Two design decisions make the HB81 different from a standard high bay.

Separate the Driver and LED Into Two Chambers

Each component gets its own housing with independent heat sinks. Neither pushes the other past its rated limit. A split-type driver structure is standard for high-temperature LED fixtures across the industry.

Driver Derates to Protect Itself

When the temperature crosses the safe threshold, the driver automatically reduces output to protect the internal electronics. The light continues operating at reduced brightness rather than shutting off.

The Chimluxor™ HB81 Series High-Temperature LED High Bay is the answer for industrial facilities where standard fixtures fail from heat. Split-type driver architecture keeps the power supply thermally isolated from the LED array, enabling continuous operation at 85°C ambient. Three Extra Steps for High-Temperature Reliability

The HB81 is built on the same die-casting and assembly line as our standard high bays. What differs: additional quality checks that verify high-temperature performance before shipping.

Controlled Thermal Interface Assembly

LED board and heat sink are bonded under a controlled process to ensure consistent thermal transfer. Poor contact at this interface is a leading cause of early LED failure in high-temperature service.

Waterproof Tested to IP65 Standard

The driver housing must stay sealed against dust and moisture as the aluminum body expands and contracts with temperature swings. Each fixture is waterproof tested before it enters burn-in.

Burn-In Plus Thermal Chamber Verification

Every HB81 unit completes burn-in testing. High-temperature performance is verified using in-house thermal test chambers. Spot-checked units undergo full temperature cycling to confirm design integrity across the rated range.
